Sunflower Mini Session Recap at Dix Park in North Carolina
NOTE! Interested in 2025 sunflower mini session photos at Dix Park in Raleigh, North Carolina? Click below to learn about when I’m offering them this year.
Every summer since 2018, the good folks at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, NC (well them and Raleigh Water and Raleigh Parks) plant 5-acres of sunflowers and wildflowers to serve as a pollinator habitat for bees, butterflies, and other wildlife. It’s a gorgeous, sweaty experience that my family hasn’t missed. The sunflower field has become a seasonal tradition for so many North Carolina families who want to enjoy its beauty, take photos, and spend time outdoors together.
I’ve been wanting to offer sunflower mini sessions at the Dix Park Sunflower Field for years and 2024 was finally the year to do it. Photographing families among thousands of golden blooms feels like the perfect way to celebrate summer in North Carolina. From chasing little ones through the flowers to capturing quiet, in-between moments, these sessions are always filled with so much joy. This is a tradition I plan to continue for years so check back every year for updated information.
Big thank you to the family and friends that braved the sun and heat for these photos. I’m already looking forward to bringing sunflower mini sessions back next year at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, North Carolina. If you’re hoping to have updated family photos surrounded by North Carolina’s most iconic summer flowers, this is the perfect opportunity.
